Children are important at First Glendale! Our goal is to provide opportunities where children are safe, feel loved by God and the people around them, and have opportunities to grow in their love of God and their place in life.
Children’s Moment During Worship
Children are welcome in all of our worship services. Families are encouraged to come to worship together and following the Children’s Moment with the Pastor.
Sunday School for children (K-5th grade) is offered during the 10:10 a.m. worship service. Sunday School for Youth (7th – 12th grade) is offered during the 10:10 a.m. service. We use a curriculum that encourages creative thinking and our teachers are dedicated, nurturing and caring.
United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) meets at various times, with regular meetings on the last Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. offsite. Experienced, dedicated volunteers make Youth Group a place where teenagers feel safe, can make friends, and find opportunities to grow in their faith. There are also times during the year when the youth group gathers with other youth groups from around the District and Annual Conference for dances, retreats and camping experiences at the Annual Conference’s Campgrounds.
Tiger Cub Scout troop 262 meets on the first and third Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. First Glendale sponsors 2 Girl Scout troops. The first meets Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. and the second meets Thursdays at 6:00 p.m.
Infant and Child Care
For those needing infant and child care (under 3 yrs) the church maintains a well staffed nursery during each of the morning worship services. Ask the ushers or staff for directions to the nursery.
