Children and Youth

Children

Children are important at First Glenale! Our goal is to provide opportunities where children are safe, feel loved by God and the people around them, and have opportunities to grow in their love of God and their place in life.

Children's Moment During Worship

Children are welcome in all of our worship services. Families are encouraged to come to worship together and following the Children's Moment with the Pastor. children will be escorted to Sunday School.

Sunday School

Sunday School for children (k -5th grade) is offered during the 9:30 a.m. worship service. A Children's Activity for children (k- 5th grade) is available during the 11:00 am. worship service. Sunday School for youth 7th - 12th grade is offered during the 9:30 a.m. service. We use a curriculum that encourages creative thinking and our teachers are dedicated, nurturing and caring.

Youth

United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) meets at various times. Experienced, dedicated volunteers make Youth Group a place where teenagers feel safe, can make friends, and find opportunities to grow in their faith. There are also times during the year when the youth group gathers with other youth groups from around the Distrct and Annual Conference for dances, retreats and camping experiences at the Annual Conference's Campgounds.

Scouting

First Glendale sponsors Boy Scout Troop 62 and Cub Pack 62. Troop 62 was fomed in 1932 and is one of the oldest Troops in the Theodore Roosevelt Council. Boy Scouts meet on the first and thrid Sundays at 11:00 a.m. and Cub Scouts meet on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m.

Infant and Child Care

For those needing infant and child care (under 3 yrs) the church maintains a well staffed nursery during each of the morning worship services. Ask the ushers or staff for directions to the ursery.
