The History of the Brick-by-Brick Project
About 20 years ago a long-time member, Rosie Miller and other members began to notice the aging and deterioration of our beautiful sanctuary. Rosie’s dream was to restore it a brick at a time.  The Brick-by-Brick Committee was formed! Funds were raised for the restoration and a historical grant was applied for in 2008. The grant was approved, but because of the 2008 recession the funds were removed by the state.

Over the years, funds continued to be raised and in 2023 the Brick-by-Brick Committee submitted a grant application with the state historical society. In January 2024 the grant was approved so preparation for restoration could begin. Robert Graham, a historical architect, was retained to design a plan for rehabilitation and restoration. In the spring of 2024, a team of construction engineers and workers began the monumental work that would take several months to complete.

The work is now complete, and our beautiful sanctuary is ready for the next 100 years!

(Note: Although Rosie didn’t live to see her dream of the sanctuary project completed, we know she would be thrilled with the finished project.)
